How to Insert Hyperlinks into a PDF Document
There are several common methods to insert hyperlinks into a PDF document. Here are the operations using some typical PDF editing tools as examples:
Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Open the PDF document in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Select "Tools" > "Edit PDF" > "Link" > "Add or Edit". The pointer will become a crosshair, and all existing links in the document will be temporarily displayed.
- Drag a rectangle at the location where you want to create a hyperlink. This area, whether it is a text box or an image, will become the active link area.
- In the pop - up "Create Link" dialog box, choose the appearance of your link, such as setting it to hidden, or selecting the link type, highlight style, line type, style, thickness, and color.
- Select the destination of the hyperlink. You can choose from the following link actions:
- "Go to a Page View": Click "Next", set the page number and view magnification for the current document or another document, and then click "Set Link".
- "Open a File": Select the destination file and click "Choose". If the file is a PDF, specify whether it should open in a new window or the existing window, and then click "OK".
- "Open a Web Page": Provide the URL of the destination web page. You can also create a URL link that opens a specific page in a PDF.
- "Create a Custom Link": Click "Next" to open the "Link Properties" dialog box and set the action associated with the link.
Foxit PDF Reader
- Open the Foxit PDF Reader, click "File" > "Open", and select the PDF file to which you want to add a hyperlink.
- In the "Home" page, find the "Link" button and click it. Then, use the left - click of the mouse to select the area where you need to insert the link (it can be text, an image, or other blank areas. After selection, drag the mouse to outline the scope of the link, usually a rectangle).
- In the pop - up "Create Link" dialog box, select the link type according to your needs and set parameters such as the target location. After the link is set, click "OK".
UPDF
- Open the UPDF software and click "Open File" to select the file that needs to be edited.
- Click the "Edit PDF" function in the left - hand toolbar to enter the editing mode, and then click the "Link" option at the top.
- Use the mouse to drag and select the text or area to which you want to add a link.
- In the pop - up link settings window, enter the URL you want to link to, set the opening method (such as in a new window), and then confirm.
